There are many people that set unrealistic goals that they will never achieve because they don't pay close enough attention to their progress. If you are constantly trying to improve your bottom line, then you will always be moving forward toward your goals. By putting your best effort in everything that you do you are setting yourself up for the best chance of success.
Good Better Best
Growth is one of my values, so I know that in order to be happy, I need to be learning something new or getting better at something I already do. If there is something you do pretty well. That’s not enough. You have to get better. Be the best version of yourself that you can ever be. To be best at something, you have to make it a priority. Make time for it. – notice I didn’t say find time – to make time in your schedule for developing your skills and improving your art.
What I love love love about working to get better at something you love doing, are all the additional benefits this brings. I’m not just getting better at public speaking. I’m feeling more alive because I’m challenging my brain; I’m feeling empowered because by forcing myself to allocate time in my schedule (even just 10 minutes at bedtime) I’m taking control of my life. And I’m feeling excited about my life because I’m committing time to something I am passionate about. If you like the sound of those feelings, my question to you this month is: If you could become the best at one thing, what would it be?
And my call to action for you: What one thing will you commit to doing next month, so you feel more alive, empowered and excited about your life?
The best way to evolve in this life is to continue to strive to be the best version of you, and the way that you achieve this is through hard work and improving upon yourself. When you are looking at your life progress remember that you are always on the right path when you pay attention to the words good, better, and best. Your good is just one step of achievement, another step has to be taken which takes you to the Better, and then you don’t rest until the next step takes you to your BEST! Never let it rest, 'til your good is better and your better is best. It may sound a bit like a tongue twister, but there is a lot of knowledge in this quote. If you are never settling for your achievements, then you will always be improving.

The next time that you want to achieve something, set your sights on your goals and pay close attention to your progress. You will find that you can attain your dreams far more easily if you are giving it your best effort every day. Simply put, you don’t rest after every achievement, because there are wider and broader versions of what you just achieved.
In pursuit of mastery
Greatness is all about the pursuit of mastery. So, what do you have to do to achieve it?
- Work Ethic
There’s a lot of people who think watching sports is a waste of time, and that doing so is for losers.. They are well within their right to think so. However, I think those people are the real losers. If you cannot glean a lesson from another person’s greatness that’s been derived from a place of tireless work effort, that’s your problem. A lot of people, when studying the ‘greats’ of the world — as in, those who have invented revolutionary items/materials or achieved undisputed, unequivocal success in general — will often mention the likes of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, etc.
The work ethic of athletes can be studied, as well. However, a ton of people write that off by saying, “Well, that’s all talent!” Oh? If it’s all talent, then you wouldn’t see so many draft busts in professional sports. You know what I mean: players with a lot of hype backed by a ton of talent who don’t work out very well in the pros. If you don’t think work ethic, mental/physical toughness and an unshakable, resilient drive through action to be the best is a factor in the lives of these folks, then you are a goddamn dunce.
- Passion
What separates the haves from the have-nots is a willingness to not embrace excuses and to show up, do what you need to do regardless of whether you feel good or not. Truth be told, you are not always going to feel like doing the things necessary to help you grow. In fact, for certain amounts of time you might find yourself in an occupation or at a school you aren’t going to want to be at, but since it’s temporary and you can find a light at the end of the tunnel, you could have the self-discipline to push yourself through bad days and otherwise tough times. Life isn’t going to be sunshine and rainbows every day. You can’t enjoy every single thing you do. That’s not a negative mindset. That’s a realist view of the world. It’s not all black and white; there’s more grey than anything. There’s nothing wrong about going through a little bit of pain and despair to get what you want or where you need to be. Wasn’t it Bob Ross, the painter, who said that you have to have some rain to appreciate the sunshine? During the bad days it is the passion that keeps you going. You, therefore, have to love whatever it is that you do. Success comes about due to consistency and overcoming mental/physical pains, knowing your limits and still doing what you need to do to work at your passion. Be insatiable in your desire to work.
Even the best athletes around the world (The Messi's, the Ronaldo's) have to keep on training every day. Whether it was after a win, a loss, a good game, a bad game, soreness, fatigue…...................it doesn’t fucking matter. They have to keep working on their craft. Same with you. Doesn't matter if you are a sweeper…......... You go out and be the best damn sweeper you can possibly be. Be the best in the world! You have to be relentless to really transform you from good to great to unstoppable. How are you making your better your best? Let us know in the comments below.
